What Am I, New?

Holy crap.  I have sunburn.  Can't move, everything hurts, bright red, extremely painful sunburn.

The thing is, I don't usually burn and when I do, it's pretty faint and almost immediately turns to tan.  That is probably not the case this time.

The picture doesn't even come close to showing how bad the burns really are.  In fact, naked, it still looks like I have my swim suit on.

And yes, I was wearing SPF.  Not a high count, but SPF all the same.  I spent years and years living in the south and I am well aware of the dangers of the sun's rays.

The funny thing is that my husband has sunburn too.  So here we are, two miserably burnt people laying side by side in bed completely unmoving.  Letting the air from the fan wash over us and give some measure of comfort to our aching bodies.

Now, I am up on a Monday morning, trying to catch up with work and wondering when it will stop hurting so bad and kind of considering implementing a Naked Monday work plan.  My dress is chafing.

Maybe you got old expired sunscreen. I got less burnt but I wasn't wearing any.

Holy crap it hurts. I have been out in the sun with NO sunscreen and have not been burnt this bad. I even have blisters on my legs.

Ow ow ow ow ow ow...You have my deepest sympathies. as a pale, pale, pale Irish American...Sunburn pain is one I know all too well. one OVERCAST day on a Lake Michigan beach, I blistered my whole forehead.I'm not exaggerating...Blistered my whole forehead.
Good times...Good times.
Have you put some aloe on it ?

Paticus :

Aloe lotion. Straight aloe can cause peeling and I am already blistering. Thank God I wore a hat and large sunglasses and used a heavier SPF on my face.

Argh.

Screw the peeling-use the straight aloe!!!! And take tylenol-it helps.

When I got done laughing, I felt bad. Now I feel sorry for you. I hope it gets better soon!

I have almost that EXACT SAME burn line right now.

Last night Jared was all "ohhh, I loooove you" and I'm all "if you fucking touch me I will cut you."

And a word of suggestion? Naked Mondays only work if you DON'T MOVE. Because... ouch.

i got burnt this weekend too doing yard work. I was wearing a wife beater so I have a 'beater tan line.

I don't believe you about it looking like you still have your suit on. Send me a naked picture so I can verify the veracity of your statement.

oh I hate that crap! I hope it clears up fast! Aloe up!

Chaffing should be from sex, not sunburn. Does that mean we are getting old? Ahem... I mean... does that mean I'M getting old...?

Oh honey I'm sorry. I freaking hate being burned. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain you must be going through.

MetalMom - I can always count on my friends to get a good laugh out of my misery (=

Britt - I know. Ouchies abound.

Fatwonkkid - I have so many tan lines, I look like a zebra.

Avi - That was sent this morning.

Kelly - The other kind of chafing would have been better and probably would have had a shorter recovery time.

Lspoon - Ugh. I feel like throwing up right now.

Percosets and Aloe...oh and maybe a Martini or two to top it all off. Your nakid nap this afternoon will be great...

Oh yeah? I think I'd be one of many men who'd south an exuberant "prove it!" heh.

Anywho, sorry to hear about the burn, but you should know that Astroglide is not an effective sun block. Just fyi.

Ouch ouch ouch. I'd give you a sympathetic hug, but it would probably hurt...

Hate to suggest this, but it works. Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and put in fridge. Once it's chilled, spritz on the sunburn. It helps take the sting out.

Maven, I was going to say vinegar bath, not hot water - tepid at best.

MUCH LUCK with this ADW, sunburns SUCK!!

Long time lurker, first time commenter. Sorry to hear this.

Best thing to do is soak in a bath of cool water (as cool as you can stand) as soon as possible. This pulls the heat to the surface and prevents the burn from going any deeper.

To take a cool shower wouldn't be the same - the running water would 'push' the heat deeper into the tissues.
